Out Takes 2012 - No Look Pass

First generation Asian-American Emily Tay is living the dream playing basketball for Harvard, and maintaining a double life when it comes to her family. Emily is mesmerising in action on the court (dubbed a `one-woman Cirque de Soleil` by her teammates), but humbly unaware of quite how good she is. As graduation looms, she prepares for a pro basketball career after graduation. But off the court Emily is trying to balance the expectations of her traditional Burmese immigrant parents and her best friend and team-mate, as well as deal with the choices, opportunities and demands of a professional basketball career. As Emily herself says, this film is her coming out. In telling her own remarkable story she reveals her true self to her parents and the world for the first time, and reflects on the role that sport has played in her life. `Sick of cliched sports movies that were mainly told about men`s teams, I decided to make a film that de-emphasized `the big win` and instead demonstrated basketball as THE tool a young girl uses to figure out who she is between adolescence and adulthood. When I met Emily Tay I immediately knew that this was the story I had been looking for. Basketball had saved her too.` - Melissa Johnson, director of No Look Pass
