Out Takes 2012 : Advocate For Fagdom
Gay zombies, queer terrorists and punk rent boys - Out Takes audiences are well familiar with the work of director Bruce LaBruce. From Hustler White to L. A. Zombie, his sexually explicit mixes of gay porn and queer politics have proved popular since the festival began. Bruce LaBruce was born Justin Stewart in Southampton, Ontario, in 1964. This candid documentary works its way chronologically through LaBruce`s life, combining rare archive material with a wealth of clips from his oeuvre. Anecdotes and analysis from interviews with Gus Van Sant, John Waters, Vaginal Davis and others reveal how a Canadian farm boy worked his way up through the Toronto underground scene to become one of the grand, middle-aged men of the New Queer Cinema. Fascinating and unmissable.
